To whom it may concern,
I am Iñigo Urteaga, a M.S. Telecommunication Engineering graduated from the
ETSI Bilbao (Spain) and currently working for the telecommunications
department at Tecnalia (
http://www.tecnalia.com/en/divisions/ict-european-software-institute/teleco…).
I have experienced both academia and the telecommunications job-market over
these last few years and, as a consequence, I have realized that I want
research to be the foundation of my career plan.
On the one hand, communications and networking, specially wireless, are the
research topics that motivate and inspire me most. On the other, I have
always embraced eager enthusiasm for pure sciences, such as physics and
biology. Emerging concepts as biotechnology, nanoscience or quantum physics
immediately capture my attention and curiosity. That is the reason why Prof.
Ian F. Akyildiz's key-note lecture covering nanonetworking in the past ICETE
2010 conference made such an impact on me. His presentation about the
immense possibilities and challenges raised by nanoscience was definitely
inspiring. Later, as I had the pleasure to be involved in a conversation
with Prof. Akyildiz, he introduced me to this project initiated as a
collaboration between Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz and Prof. Josep Solé-Pareta:
NaNoNetworking Center in Catalonia. Hence, I have been closely following
N3Cat's website and related news since last July.
As matter of fact, this beginning of 2011, I have decided to commit myself
to research and I am now determined to obtain a PhD. I am well aware of the
dedication needed but, at the same time, I am one hundred percent sure that
I want a PhD to be the next step in my career.
All in all, this is my formal inquiry regarding the PhD openings N3Cat may
have in the near future. I attach my resume and I can provide several
recommendation letters upon request: ETSI Bilbao University Professor Amaia
Arrinda; my Master Thesis supervisor at CSM (USA), Dr. Qi Han; and Dr.
Javier del Ser, project manager at Tecnalia. If any further information is
required (transcripts, diplomas, etc.), don't hesitate to contact me anytime
by mail or phone.
Thank you beforehand for your time and looking forward to hearing back from
you,
Best regards,
Iñigo Urteaga
